Rue Demain
Mortgage Broker Executive Assistant
Every day you learn something new!
When I entered the world of work, I could not imagine how far I have gone from working in the call center industry, speech academy, and finance back-office representation. It has been seven years and I am certain that there are more skills, knowledge, and qualifications that await me.
Becoming a Mortgage Broker EA is a testament to this. When I got interviewed by an Australian MB based in Canberra, I was transparent to admit that I knew nothing about the industry – the product, process, and technicalities. But they hired me nevertheless, taking a chance, and everything happened so quickly.
It never occurred to me that I will be able to surpass days of assisting our loans processor and communicating to the bank and the clients who want to obtain funds for their new home, investment properties, and vehicles. To realize that mortgage is a unique area in the field of financing, it takes a lot of commitment, focus, discipline, and patience to get through the days.
If there is one thing that I have learned in this particular journey in my field of work, it is to become a people company. Customers become our partners in creating a better society when we perceive them as stakeholders in our shared success. One satisfied customer is all it takes to convince an entire village to use our services.
I am horrible when I panic because I won’t talk until I have calmed down. People thought it’s grace under pressure. Well!
